Patriotic Jewelry - 4th of July - Independence Day - New Jewelry to Celebrate!!

I have been very busy working with my siblings on my Dad's estate this month, but I have managed to make a few new pieces designed to adorn for the 4th of July celebration just around the corner.  My Mom surprised me by saying that she wanted a set like this one - she doesn't wear much jewelry, but I am happy to make her a set of her own.

And, my last contribution to this year's 4th of July theme is this amazing charm bracelet.

When I pictured the finished piece in my mind, it didn't look this good.  I love it when that happens.  The colors in these beads and the variety of shapes and sizes makes it really full and its "song" is lovely.

I made the base chain from 20 gauge copper and linked the links together so it will not come apart.  I'm not sure if that is a good idea or not.  If something was to really grab it, it wouldn't give and so the wrist could be damaged.  I think there is a plus and minus evaluation to be made when considering using closed connections versus open connections.

What do you think?

Anklet Blog Hop

I am excited to participate in Kashmira Patel's Anklet Blog Hop and today is the reveal day.  I made several anklets for this challenge.  I started with some macrame ones and I have been wearing one for about two weeks now and I can't even tell I have it on any longer.

I learned that anklets need to be small, flexible, and smooth to be wearable.  You don't want them hurting the bones in your legs or snagging on things.

I used a variety of Czech glass beads and various seed bead combinations and waxed linen thread.

 Picasso drops.

 Top drilled teal coin beads.

I also used lobster clasps (very small ones) on the ones I used copper findings.
Black Czech glass flags with a brass clasp.
Silver rolo chain with psychedelic beads (you have seen these before), a pewter peace bead and a round clasp.

These are the first anklets I have ever made.
This was a fun challenge and I will make more of these.

Check out the other participants and see some beautiful anklets.

ENJOY!
